A new species of calanoid copepod, Stephos boettgerschnackae, was collected from an anchialine cave in the Kvarner region (Croatia). This is the first record of the genus from the Adriatic Sea. It is described from an anchialine cave in the northern part of the eastern Adriatic shoreline, in cave Urinjska špilja, not far from the city of Rijeka. This cave is the only known locality of this new species.
