Molecular basis of adaptation of isopod crustaceans of the genus Proasellus on cave environment

We invite you to the lecture Molecular basis of adaptation of isopod crustaceans of the genus Proasellus on cave environment. Monday, October 21, 2024 at 7:00 PM in the premises of the MO Savski kuti (Lomnička 3).

The lecture deals with the evolution of cave organisms and mechanisms of adaptation to a stressful (extreme) cave environment. Two surface and two cave species of the genus Proasellus were compared using the comparative transcriptomics method. This lecture will present the results of the research and show the mechanisms of adaptation at the molecular level, linking them to the ecological factors of the cave environment.

This is Eva Marković’s thesis, written under the mentorship of PhD Helena Bilandžija and the direct guidance of Lada Jovović at the Ruđer Bošković Institute.
