Bat protection in Lopar
In cooperation with the Lopar Cultural Centre, we held a workshop as part of the Earth Day celebration program. During a little over an hour, under the guidance of Vida Zrnčić and Kasandra-Zorica Dropuljić, masters of ecology and environmental protection, and with the help of Ljubomir Poštenjak, 20 participants were learning about bats.
Bats, as the only flying mammals, are truly very interesting and useful animals that play an important role in the ecosystem. Unfortunatily, they are also surrounded with numerous prejudices. Through creativity and by watching a short film, children received answers to numerous questions about how and where bats live, what they eat and how they communicate. Drawing, coloring, cutting and gluing, as well as the presentation of certain tools that researchers use when observing bats, aroused great interest among the children.
