Lecture
Troglophilic, troglomorphic and troglobiont scorpions of the Dinarides
Along with excerpts from the history of research and a brief overview of anatomical features useful for the determination of scorpions, troglomorphic features that facilitate the identification of troglobiont species will be presented. All five previously described species from the Dinaric karst underground will be introduced, along with a more detailed history of the discovery of the last relict species, the first cave scorpion of the Alpiscorpius genus.
Significant progress in the knowledge of cave species of this group is the result of the successful cooperation of the members of the association with molecular biologist Dr. Martina Podnar from the Croatian Museum of Natural History.
Lecturer will be Assoc. Prof. Nikola Tvrtković, PhD, on Monday, December 18, 2023. at 20:00 (Lomnička 3, premises of MO Savski kuti)!
